Save MoneyAbe's son arrived home from school, puffing panting, with sweat rolling down his face. "Dad, you'll be so proud of me," he said, "I saved us a dollar by running behind the bus all the way home!" "That's great!" said Abe. "But couldn't you of run behind a taxi and saved us a twenty?" Don't Get ScrewedIn the Spring of 1957, Bobby, a real cool cat with his own wheels, went to pick up his date. "Carrie's not ready yet, Bobby. Why don't you have a seat?" says her dad. "Okay," says Bobby. "What are you two kids planning to do tonight?" Bobby replies politely, "Oh, we'll probably go to the soda shop or maybe take in a movie." "Why don't you two go out and screw?" asks Carrie's dad. "I hear all the kids are doing it." Bobby is taken aback. "Wha, what did you say?" he stammered. Her dad repeated, "I say, Carrie really likes to screw. Why she'd screw all night if her mother and I would let her!" Bobby's eyes lit up. The evening was shaping up nicely. Eventually Carrie bopped down the stairs in her cute little poodle skirt and announced she was ready to go. Bobby eagerly escorted her out the front door. Not twenty minutes later, Carrie raced back into the house, slammed the door, and screamed at her father. "Dammit, Daddy! It's called 'The TWIST!' |
Lounging with a movie: My Big Fat Greek Wedding / Murder By Number |
|
My Big Fat Greek Wedding. We loved this movie. It is all good clean fun. If you have a family at all you will enjoy this film. Starring Nia Vardalos, John Corbett, Lainie Kazan, Michael Constantine, Gia Carides, Louis Mandylor, Joey Fatone, and Bruce Gray. I am really not this well informed. I stole the list of players from another web site. The only people I really recognized was the D.J. from Northern Exposure and the lady from SCTV. Both of which names escape me but I am sure they are listed above. This is a movie without explosions, vampires, dragons, car chases, guns or fire, except for a grill with a lamb on it and it is not a big fire and yet very enjoyable. This is a movie about a very big, very close Greek family and how they deal with their daughters non-Greek boyfriend and later fiancé and eventual husband. A touch of the old world meets new mixed with a bit of a Cinderella story. The B.K. Lounge highly recommends this film. |
Murder By Numbers. Starring Sandra Bullock as a tenacious homicide detective with a new partner who uncover a trail of shrewdly concealed evidence bla bla bla. This movie sucked. They make Sandra seem like this tough cop type in the first couple of minutes and then later in the movie gets bullied by a High School student that could have been slapped into submission. She was also easy in the movie, you know, she was a bit of a ho. I love Sandra Bullock and this was all very disappointing to me. The only reason they even caught the murderer was by mistake and an obvious mistake at that. Seemed a little careless after al the trouble they went to to create the perfect crime If you are thinking of renting this movie please take what ever the rental fee is and send it to us. We will take your money and buy some cocktails. At least then your money would be well spent. |
Roasted Tomato Soup and Grill Cheese on Sour Dough Bread |
|||
The cool weather is creeping up on us and spoon season is starting. For those of you who do not wash you own dishes, this is when there are noticeably more spoons than forks to be washed. Mainly because you may be eating more soup. If you happen to like soup or not for that matter here is a really good recipe submitted by Lisa V. of Chicago, IL. 3 lbs. Tomatoes cut in halve
and the stem part cut out. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Place the tomatoes in one layer in a roasting pan or a cookie sheet with sides. Put the onion in a layer on the tomatoes. Drizzle the olive oil over the top and sprinkle with the herbs. Roast in the oven for 20 to 40 minutes depending on how accurate your oven is. When the tomatoes begin to become slightly brown they are done. Put the roasted vegetables in a blender, pour in the stock and blend until smooth. You may have to do this in batches. Pour soup into a pan and heat till hot. Shake some pepper and drip some Tabasco on it until the desired effect is achieved. A small swirl of sour cream is really good in this soup also. |
Sour Dough Bread Grill Cheese Sandwich This if for making one sandwich. If you started drinking early YOU SHOULD MAKE ONE FOR EVERYBODY AND YOU CAN PROBABLY FIT MORE THAN ONE IN THE PAN AT A TIME. 2 slices of sour dough bread.
Spread liberal amounts of butter on both sides of both pieces of bread and open a beer. Once the beer is open you are on your own. If you need further instructions for an open beer you need more help than we are prepared to give. Cover one piece of the bread with cheese and place the other piece on top. Place the sandwich in a hot skillet. We like to put a plate or something heavy on it to squish it down a little. When the bread is beautiful and brown flip it over and repeat the process for side two. Repeat until you have made enough sandwiches or run out of beer. After the sandwich has had a moment to cool cut the it diagonally as to create two pointed halves that are perfect for dipping in the soup. |
