Lounge Cocktail: Mint Julep
Traditionally served in early May at the Kentucky Derby. The Mint Julep is like a Southern version of a martini, pretty much straight alcohol. But with the Southern ingenuity to serve it in a glass that is easy to hold and hard to spill.
Cocktail by WebTender

• 4 fresh Mint sprigs
• 2 1/2 oz Bourbon
• 1 tsp Powdered sugar
• 2 tsp Water (optional)

Beat up 2 mint leaves a bit to release the minty goodness. Place in Julep or Collins glass with powdered sugar. Fill glass with shaved or crushed ice and add bourbon. Top with more ice and garnish with a mint sprig. Serve with a straw.

If I Ever Become an
Evil Overlord:

• When I've captured my adversary and he says, "Look, before you kill me, will you at least tell me what this is all about?" I'll shoot him, and then say "No".

• Shooting is not too good for my enemies.

• My ventilation ducts will be too small to crawl through.

• I will make it clear that I do know the meaning of the word "mercy"; I simply choose not show them any.

• When the rebel leader challenges me to fight one-on-one and asks, "Or are you afraid without your armies to back you up?" My reply will be, "No, just sensible."

• All slain enemies will be cremated, not left for dead. The announcement of their deaths, as well as any accompanying celebration, will be deferred until after the aforementioned disposal.

• I will not interrogate my enemies in the inner sanctum -- a small hotel well outside my borders will work just as well.

• I will set all devises to activate when the counter reaches 117 and the hero is just putting his plan into operation.

Lounging at the movies: Chicken Little, History of Violence, Prime, Hostel, Match Point and Stay

Since it has been a while since the last release of The Lounge Lizard there have been many movie releases. We are going to review the ones we remember.

Chicken Little
We almost watched this movie twice. Alcohol may intensify the effect. Classic story of Chicken Little freaking out about the sky falling with a twist, thank you very much. Lots of humor on many levels. Well worth watching.

History Of Violence
The guy from Lord Of The Rings and Ed Harris, you would think this would be a great movie. Personally we thought the story was lame. The publicity a local hero gets digs up some old friends that are very unsavory. We still thought it was lame.

Prime
Uma Thurman plays Rafi, a 30 something divorcee, in therapy. Rafi meets a young artist and begins a heated relationship. He is half her age and she is not Jewish, as his mother reminds him, but the sex is great and Rafi is telling her therapist everything. Her therapist figures out Rafi's new lover is her son and this is where we thought the movie would pick up. It did not. As much as we love Uma Thurman and Maryl Streep I would have rather been peeling shrimp.

Hostel
This will not get the feel good movie of the year award. Good old horror. The movie is about traveling youth in Europe who stay in hostels. Evidentially there are hot naked girls frolicking about just waiting for new arrivals. But as fate has it torture and other forms of brutality are in the future. If you like a good scary movie or liked House Of Wax you will enjoy Hostel. One thumb up and one thumb left the room.

Match Point
Woody Allen I believe. Personally I was preparing for an hour or so of chick flick but was surprised at the twisted tale that was presented. The story is of forbidden love, murder and deception and you will be in disbelief of how it plays out. Really enjoyed this film, two thumbs up and a nod and a wink.

Stay
Ewan McGregor is a therapist, maybe. Naomi Watts is in this film as well. Almost an art film, a bit like Crash in a way. Some really great film and a fairly strange story of an artist with mental problems who gets involved in a nasty car accident. One thumbs up and a glance of confusion.

Movies to The B. K. Lounge are currently provided by NetFlix.

Lounge Eats: Fajita

Fajita, Pronounced Faheeta, is a very tasty, versatile and fairly inexpensive meal. There are about a bazillion ways to make Fajita. You can make fajita with chicken, beef or pork. The recipe below is one of our favorites. It is slightly sweet and spicy and actually pretty good for you. You may add a shot or two of Tequila to the below recipe or add it to the cook, both will bring flavor. We experiment all the time with marinades and combinations of toppings and you should as well.

1 lb. Skirt Steak, opened*
2 cups Orange Juice
1 cup lime juice
1 Fresh Jalapeno minced
2 teaspoons Mexican Oregano
1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flake
1 teaspoon Salt

Tortilla (Torteeya NOT Tortilia)

Toppings:
Red Pepper, Roasted, peeled and cut into strips
Onion
Lettuce
Salsa
Fruit Salsa
Sour Cream
Cheese
Pablano Pepper, cut in thin strips
Roasted Pineapple chunks**

Cut the skirt steak into lengths that will fit on your grill.

Mix orange juice, lime juice, jalapeno, oregano, red pepper flake and Salt. Place Skirt Steak in a container large enough to hold steak and marinade. Pour in the marinade and let sit for at least 3 hours.

Cook on hot grill for about 4 or 5 minutes per side until brown with slight crispy black edges. Place on platter and let stand for about 8 minutes before slicing.

Slice diagonally across the grain of the meat into thin strips and serve on tortilla with roasted red pepper, onion, lettuce and roasted Pineapple chunks. Top with salsa and sour cream.

* Opened is when the butcher takes the Skirt Steak and slices in half lengthwise. We have bought it opened and unopened. Both ways are fine.

**Drain pineapple chunks well and brown them in a hot skillet using oil.
